What Does Importing Cost?
The cost of importing a vehicle from the USA consists of several key factors. It depends on the vehicle's purchase price, transportation costs, export documentation fees, customs duties, and VAT. Another important factor is any modifications required to meet European standards and complete the homologation process. We break down all these costs below so you have a clear overview of the total import price and how each individual cost contributes to it.

Vehicle Purchase & Export in the USA
The vehicle price is converted from US dollars (USD) to Czech koruna at the current exchange rate. Once we find a suitable vehicle and agree on the purchase terms, we arrange all necessary export documents, including the export fee and brokerage services. The vehicle is then transported from the seller to the port in the USA.
2.
Ocean Shipping & Port Fees
After the vehicle has been prepared for transport, it is loaded into a covered container and shipped across the ocean to a port in the European Union. This stage includes the shipping costs as well as port handling fees in the USA. At the European port, the vehicle is unloaded, the necessary customs documents are prepared, and onward transportation to the Czech Republic is arranged.
3.
Transportation & Compliance with European Standards
Once the vehicle arrives at the European port, we arrange its transportation by truck directly to the Czech Republic. The vehicle then undergoes the necessary technical modifications to meet European standards – typically lighting modifications such as fog lights, marker lights, and rear turn signals, as well as other specific modifications such as rear light conversion. Once the modifications are complete, we arrange homologation, including technical inspections, approval fees, issuance of the vehicle registration documents, and registration with Czech license plates.

Customs Duty, VAT & Our Service Fee
A 10% customs duty applies to vehicles imported from the USA, based on their total value, including transportation and technical modification costs. This is followed by 21% VAT, calculated on the total import cost, including transportation, homologation, and other related services. For arranging all these services and guaranteeing a successful import, we charge a service fee of 8%. Once all fees have been settled, everything is taken care of and you can enjoy your new vehicle.
