What Does Importing Cost?
The cost of importing a classic car from the USA consists of several key factors. It depends on the vehicle's purchase price, transportation costs, export documentation fees, customs duties, and VAT. Another important factor is any modifications required to meet European standards and complete the homologation process. We break down all these costs below so you have a clear overview of the total import price and how each individual cost contributes to it.

Classic Car Purchase & Export in the USA
The price of the classic car is converted from US dollars (USD) to Czech koruna at the current exchange rate. Once we find the ideal classic car and agree on the purchase terms, we arrange all necessary export documents, including export fees and brokerage services. We then safely transport the classic car from the seller to the port in the USA.
2.
Ocean Shipping & Port Fees
After carefully preparing the classic car for transport, it is loaded into a covered container and shipped across the ocean to a port in the European Union. This stage includes shipping costs and port handling fees in the USA. At the EU port, we unload the classic car, prepare the necessary customs documentation, and arrange its transportation to the Czech Republic.
3.
Transportation & Compliance with European Standards
Once the classic car arrives at the European port, we arrange its safe transportation by truck to the Czech Republic. The vehicle then undergoes the necessary technical modifications to comply with European standards. After these modifications, we handle the complete homologation process, including technical inspections, issuing the vehicle registration documents, and registering the classic car with Czech license plates.

Customs Duty, VAT & Our Service Fee
Classic cars are subject to a 10% customs duty based on the total value, which includes not only the vehicle's purchase price but also transportation costs and any restoration expenses. A 21% VAT is then applied to the total import costs, including transportation, restoration, homologation, and all other services. For arranging all these services and ensuring a successful import, we charge a service fee of 8%.
